Ecologically Sustainable Development

Monash University now has compulsory ecologically sustainable development (ESD) standards in place for all new and refurbished building projects. The Facilities and Services Division developed the University Guide for Design & Management of Ecologically Sustainable Buildings: the Eco -Accord model.
This is a resource and project management tool designed to help make greener buildings - saving energy, water and other valuable resources. Its guidelines must be incorporated into all University projects.
Monash University has registered several recent building projects for certification under the Green Building Council of Australia's Green Star Rating Program.
Brief guidance notes accompany the Eco-Accord.
