Waste prevention (our priority)
Monash University prioritises waste prevention over recycling. Recycling deals with turning discarded materials into a useful product, where waste prevention finds ways to use less materials, products and packaging.
Reduce and Reuse
Recycling diverts waste from landfill and conserves resources, energy and water during production processes. In short, recycling makes good environmental and economic sense!
- Redistribute Office Furniture - Equipment Re-Use Program
- Donate unwanted goods to charity or second hand office suppliers
- Use an Eco Mug
- Use Crockery instead of disposable at meetings an events
- Bring your own lunch instead of takeaway
- Choose outlets that provide crockery
- Donate computers to engineers without borders

You can now recycle all disposable food containers at all Monash campuses. Make sure you help reduce waste to landfill and use the right bin!![]()

Waste Management at Monash
