Environmental Sustainability Training
Environmental officers and Green Representatives are the key to Monash University becoming environmentally sustainable. These training courses are designed to help Green Reps, Environmental officers and other green-minded staff and students build an environmentally-friendly university.
The training is usually conducted in four modules of two hours' duration each. Environmental Officers should attend all four modules. Green Representatives need only attend modules one, two and three, but we encourage them to also attend module four.
To enroll in one of the course modules below, an enrolment form must be submitted to the Office of Environmental Sustainability no later than 5 working days prior to course commencement.
A detailed description of training modules 1-4 are provided below the training schedule.
Module One:
Understanding the role of Green Reps and Environmental Officers at Monash University and the resources available to help you make the university greener. This module will also cover in detail what Monash University is doing in the field of water, energy, waste and procurement.
Module Two:
Simple strategy and smart goals. Developing a plan to engage your colleagues and gain their widespread participation in your workplace. This module will use theory and real examples from Monash to show you how to set achievable green goals for your workplace and identify workplace allies and endorsement for those goals.
Module Three:
Skills and Tools. Take a look at useful communication strategies and practice effective techniques to present an engaging and consistent message.
Module Four:
Monash University environmental policies, procedures and legal requirements. This module will detail the university's green policies its wide range of legal obligations to the environment, and explain the important role of Environmental Officers in helping to implement the policies and meet the legal obligations.
