Come along to the Monash fair trade launch!
On the 5th July 2011, Monash became Australia's fourth Fairtrade University, along with Macquarie, RMIT and La Trobe. To celebrate its fair trade status, Monash will host launches at its Clayton and Caulfield Campuses in October.
The events, to be held on Monday 17th October at Clayton and Tuesday, 18th October at Caulfield, will showcase fair trade goods and services available at the University through providers and vendors.
Staff and students are encouraged to come along and browse the goods and services available and talk to vendors on site. Fair trade, tea, coffee, chocolates, and fair trade merchandise will be on show along with beverage and food tastings by vendors.
The launches will be held at
- Monday 17th October, Menzies Lawn (or airport lounge if raining) between 12pm-2m
- Tuesday 18th October, H116 at Caulfield between 12pm-2m
Fairtrade is about delivering better prices and conditions for workers, promoting local sustainability, and supporting fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. It works to address the injustices that are associated with many areas of conventional trade, and enables people to “improve their position and have more control over their lives.” http://www.fta.org.au/about
