Sustainability Matters at Monash
Monday 11 October, marks the start of Monash ‘Sustainability Matters’ fortnight. The fortnight, which consists of a series of events including public lectures, seminars and workshops focussed on raising awareness and solutions to the issues of climate change and sustainability, will showcase Monash’s leadership in the area of sustainability focussed teaching, research and campus practice.
Paul Barton, Director, Office of Environmental Sustainability, said that this year the program centred around the theme of leadership with 12 events held over the two week period. He said that the fortnight would offer staff, students and the general community the opportunity to engage in a series of events including public lectures by the Rt Hon. Robert Doyle, Lord Mayor of Melbourne, public lectures at both Malaysia and Gippsland campuses, a public panel discussion facilitated by Peter Couchman (former ABC Journalist) on the topic of Marketing and the Environment Just Green Marketing or Greenwash? and a presentation from the Distinguished Young Alumni recipient, Ms Amanda McKenzie.
Other events include the official opening of the James Gormley Bike Arrival Station, Ride to Work/Uni day, Monash Leadership Forum, the Sustainable Catering and Events Food Expo, the Early Career Researchers and the Monash Sustainability Agenda seminar.
