Sustainable Transport Month at Monash

Monash University’s Sustainable Transport Month commenced on the 22nd September and will conclude on 17th October 2010 with Round the Bay in a Day.

The goal of Sustainable Transport Month is to encourage all students and staff to think about their transport options and explore a more sustainable and healthy option such as walking, riding, taking public transport or carpooling to campus.

"The month will also be an opportunity for all students and staff to re-examine how they travel to campus and consider the impact their travel has on the environment" Paul Barton, Director of the Office of Environmental Sustainability said. For most students and staff, the mode of transport they use to come and go from campus will be a major influence on their individual environmental footprint.

Sustainable Transport Month will also include the official opening of the James Gormley Bike Arrival Station which provides secure, weather protected bike parking, change-rooms with individual showers, lockers and a DIY repair area complete with tool kit and stands; the launch of Ride to Work/Uni Day on the 13th October and the launch of the Monash Transport Survey.
