Sustainable Transport Month

Monash University’s Sustainable Transport Month is almost here again.

The month long celebration of sustainable transport – 20 September to 17 October – encompasses several campus, state and nationwide initiatives.  These include:

•    World Car Free Day – 22 September
•    Walk to Work/Uni Day – 1 October
•    Melbourne Marathon – 10 October
•    Ride to Work/Uni Day – 13 October
•    Around the Bay in a Day – 17 October

Keep an eye out for events at your campus.  Information will be available at the green website at www.monash.edu/green

Ride to Uni Day

National Ride to Work Day is on Wednesday October 13th and all Monash staff and students are invited to participate in what Monash is calling Ride to Uni Day.  Healthy breakfasts will be held at each campus as well as the Alfred Hospital with the help of Baker IDI.

In 2009 Monash University took out the National University/TAFE Challenge: highest number of students/staff riding per University/TAFE.  Let’s rise to the challenge again and have the highest participation of any Australian University in 2010!

To register for the day go to http://www.bv.com.au/ride-to-work/ and follow the links.  Be sure to nominate your “workplace” as your Monash University campus.
