Fees for 2009 Car Parking Permits

Fees for car parking permits for 2009 have been announced.

They are as follows:

Red Permits:
Caulfield and Clayton - $550
Berwick and Peninsula - $275
Parkville - $700

Blue Permits:
Caulfield and Clayton - $320
Berwick and Peninsula - $160

Green Permits:
All Campuses - $750

Parking arrangements for the Gippsland campus remain unchanged (most parking there requires no permit) and the car park on the corner of Wellington and Blackburn Roads near the Clayton campus will continue to be free of charge (subject to the site not being required for university or Synchrotron building developments during 2009).

In 2009, the university will continue to support more environmentally sustainable forms of transport to all its campuses.
In particular:

- Maintaining and improving the existing campus shuttle bus services (which will remain free of charge to staff and students in 2009); in particular for Peninsula staff and students a free shuttle bus service will be introduced between the campus and Frankston Railway Station));

- Introducing as far as possible "low carbon emission" buses on all shuttle bus routes;

- Further developing and streamlining the car pooling system at all campuses; staff and students who car pool can park without charge (subject to them displaying appropriate (free) permits);

- Improving and building new campus bicycle paths and bicycle facilities (particularly at Clayton campus).

Eligible staff wishing to salary package the cost of their permit may elect to do so at the time of purchase.

The sale of 2009 Red, Blue, and Green permits will again utilise an ‘online' service according to the following schedule:

Green Permits
All campuses: Tuesday, 27 January 2009

Red Permits
Parkville campus: Thursday, 29 January 2009

Red and Blue Permits
Caulfield campus: Monday, 2 February 2009
Clayton campus: Friday, 6 February 2009
Berwick campus: Thursday, 12 February 2009
Peninsula campus: Monday, 16 February 2009

PLEASE NOTE: Permits will only go on sale from 10am on the days listed above and accessing the site earlier will not allow you to purchase your permit sooner. I also can confirm that all existing 2008 permits currently held by staff are valid when used in the appropriate parking bays until Friday 27th February 2009.
