Theft from Cars
There has been a recent increase in the theft of valuables from motor vehicles in many parts of the Melbourne metropolitan area, including Clayton and Caulfield. Unfortunately, some instances have been reported on our campuses.
Whilst the reported rate of theft on any of our campuses still remains much less than in our surrounding 'off campus' communities there are some basic steps you can take to help further reduce the risk.
Ensure you lock your vehicle and remove any valuables, or at least make sure they are well out of sight.
GPS units are popular targets of thieves and even in situations where empty GPS holders are visible, offenders have forced entry and ransacked cars looking for the unit.
Where you see anyone or anything suspicious call campus security (99053333) or police (000) immediately. Don't put yourself at risk but where possible take note and report any suspect person or vehicle.
Campus security and police are taking action and actively pursuing a
number of possible leads. Any support you can give is certainly appreciated.
