Investigation
Mr Lee Wilson is the Security Investigations Supervisor. Security issues that may affect the university community require a thorough and professional investigation to establish the facts and determine an appropriate course of action.
Security issues can include alleged or actual acts of misconduct, criminal behavior or situations where the safety or security of students, staff and or others may be affected. The Security Investigations Supervisor may be required on behalf of the university, to assume the lead investigative role for such incidents particularly those considered serious, complex or sensitive including allegations of assault, threats of violence, stalking, sexual assaults, fraud, theft etc
This specialist operational role applies expert investigative knowledge, skill, advice and support to all the Monash University Australian campuses. It interacts closely with victims, witnesses, perpetrators, fellow security staff and senior members of the university community, including Deans, Faculty and other managers/staff. The Security Investigations Supervisor is of great value to other members of the university's security services team, and in particular campus security supervisors, through the provision of direct operational assistance, professional guidance and high level advice when conducting investigations.
The Security Investigations Supervisor frequently liaises with other stakeholders including, the university counseling service, forensic psychologists, Deans, university solicitors, and if appropriate with relevant external agencies or resources to ensure effective outcomes.
Gathering evidence is naturally an important part of the role. Accordingly the Investigator obtains written statements, conducts interviews, attends crime scenes and examines physical evidence etc during an investigation.
All investigations are of course conducted in strict accordance with relevant legislation, accepted rules, university statutes, policies and procedures.
